Secretariat on Membership and Operator Certification Drive

During the first half of 2010, the CBWMP Secretariat embarked on a Membership and Operator Certification drive involving separate presentations by the Executive Director and Program Officer to officials of water and wastewater utilities operating in Belize, Turks and Caicos, St. Maarten, St. Martin, St. Thomas, St. Croix and Suriname.



Secretariat Appoints Administrative Assistant

The increasing activity of the CBWMP Secretariat necessitated creation of a new position and employment of a new staffer. At the Annual General Meeting held in St. Vincent in December 2009, the Board of Directors approved employment of an Administrative Assistant at the Secretariat.



Water is the way to Nevis’ development

Minister for Public Utilities and Natural Resources on Nevis, Mr Carlisle Powell, says the sitting Nevis Island Administration recognizes that the way to meaningful development in Nevis is through water — and it had made major investments in the natural resource.



11 territories represented at Water Operators Conference in Nevis

The Caribbean Basin Water Management Programme Inc, in collaboration with the Nevis Water Department, hosted the Second Annual Water Operators Conference at the Mount Nevis Hotel in Nevis on June 10th and 11th, 2010.



CBWMP and CDB join forces to prepare region for future drought emergencies

Representatives of Governments and water utilities from across the Caribbean gathered in Saint Lucia in May to exchange experiences, draw lessons and plan for any future drought emergency like that experienced across the region in the first quarter of 2010.



CBWMP coordinates regional seminar

The Caribbean Basin Water Management Programme Incorporated (CBWMP Inc), in collaboration with the Global Water Partnership-Caribbean Chapter and the Saint Lucia Hotel and Tourism Association (SLHTA), organized a one-day seminar on Climate Change and Water Use Efficiency in the Tourist Industry. The Seminar was held at the Conference Room of the Palm Haven Hotel on 25th February 2009.



Saint Lucia has a new National Water & Sewerage Commission

The Government of Saint Lucia has launched a new National Water & Sewerage Commission (NW&SC). The decision was taken under the Water & Sewerage Act (2005), which makes provision for the establishment of a commission to regulate the delivery of water supply and sewerage services throughout Saint Lucia.



President and Executive Director hail successful ABC Conference

CBWMP President Bernard Ettinoffe and Executive Director Victor Poyotte of CBWMP Inc were both in optimistic moods after they attended the 22nd Annual Conference of the Association of Boards of Certification (ABC) at the Embassy Suites Hotel in La Quinta, California, from 27th to 30th January 2009.
